William H. Nix, Sr.

President / Business-Agent

"When one of us are harmed, we are all harmed. By standing together with our brothers and sisters, we bring overwhelming strength and power to protect our personal and financial security while securing the dignity of our union family members."

William H. Nix, Sr. has been employed with the GCRTA since 1989 as a 437 Operator as well as a dispatcher and laborer. He received an associates of arts from Cuyahoga Community College in 1994 and studied labor relations at Cleveland State in 2003.

Mr. Nix has served as the President/Business Agent of ATU Local 268 from 2009 to 2014 and was elected for his third term beginning in January 2018. He ran for office to bring transparency to the Union and to keep its primary focus upon serving the members. He believes it is critical to ensure the members receive information about the RTA and Union, while at the same time solidifying the members and Board to stand up together against attacks upon our wages, working conditions, health care benefits and dignity.

Looking forward, Mr. Nix believes that ATU Local 268's has several priorities. First and foremost is providing strong representation of the members and being available to them 24/7. ATU Local 268 needs to ensure members are signed up while it seeks ways to operate efficiently and cut costs. During contract negotiations, Mr. Nix is committed to protecting health care and obtaining fair wage increases. He also knows that obtaining these goals depends upon the Board and Membership working together, being unified, and recognizing that our strength depends upon our solidarity.
